Started Political career while a student through KSU; Was KSU Unit President of Kaniyapuram Muslim High School (1967) and Thumba St. Xaviers' College (1969); Was, KSU Thiruvananthapuram Taluk Secretary; KSU Unit President and College Union General Secretary, S.N. College Chempazhanthy (1971); Actively participated in the 'Private College Strike' and expelled from the College; Later joined N.S.S. College Nilamel and completed Degree Course. Was KSU District Vice-President (1972) and District General Secretary (1973); organised various Trade Unions affiliated to INTUC, Joined Government Service in 1975 but resigned in 1978, for political works; Started, 'Youth Express' Daily for Youngsters (1983). Was, President District Youth Congress (1978); President, Kaniyapuram Coir Co-operative Society (1983-89); District President CANFED (1985); President, Andoorkonam Panchayat (1988-1995); Became Thiruvananthapuram DCC Secretary and KPCC Member in 1992; President, Andoorkonam Service Co-operative Bank (1993); Member, Agriculture University Governing Body and its Accounts Committee Chairman, Councillor and Opposition leader of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation (1995); Member, Thiruvananthapuram District Planning Board (1995). |
