Entered politics through K.S.U. and was its Unit President (1979), Taluk President (1982) and Malappuram District Secretary (1984);  was Chairman, P.T.M. College Union; Youth Congress District Vice President (1986); State  General Secretary, Youth Congress; Served as Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Communities and Youth and Cultural Affairs (2004-2006) in the Oommen Chandy Ministry. 

         Previously elected to KLA in 2001 and 2006.
