T. N. PRATHAPAN

 

           Entered Politics through KSU. Served as Unit President in Thalikkulam Govt. High School and Nattika S.N. College, President- Chavakkad Taluk, District Vice President, General Secretary, President and State Vice- President. Also served as District General Secretary, Youth Congress, Thrissur, DCC Member, Thrissur, KPCC Member, President- Nattika Block Congress Committee, KPCC Executive Committee Member and Secretary, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee.

        Was elected as member of Thalikkulam Gramapanchayat and represented Nattika Assembly Constituency in the Kerala Legislative Assembly and was again elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from the Kodungallur Assembly Constituency.

        Was Member of Calicut University Senate, Member – Kerala Sports Council, Member - Kerala Kalamandalam Executive Committee, Governing Body Member – Sangeetha Nadaka Academy, Kerala Folklore Academy and Vailoppilly Samskrithi Bhavan. Manager – Indian Women Volleyball Team (2013) for the International Volleyball Tournament held in China and Thailand.

     Presently, serving as Congress Legislative Party Chief Whip, KPCC Executive Member and President, Kerala Pradesh Matsyathozhilali Congress.

       Also serving as Syndicate Member, Calicut University, Governing Council Member of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies. Chairman – Poet Kunjunni Mash Smaraka Samithi, Chairman- Thriprayar Sports & Games Association, Chairman- Karuna Charitable Trust, Chairman - Pets Associates, Thrissur, Chairman – Jaiva Karshaka Samithi, President- Thalikkulam Public Library & Reading Room, Chairman-‘Oruma’ and Chairman – Snehapoorvam Charitable Trust.

       Actively associated with the environment protection activities, bio- farming initiatives, conservation of indigenous species in Animal Husbandry, Care for the Pets, Organisor of the first Beach Festival ‘Oruma’ in Kerala and the first Rural Indoor Stadium at Thripprayar. Founder of the Thalikkulam Snehatheeram Beach Park. Also initiated charity programmes like ‘Ammokkoru Kavil Kanji’ and ‘Snehapoorvam’.

Awards & Recognition

       Was awarded with the ‘Best Legislature Award’ (2003) instituted by the UAE Pratheeksha Publication, ‘Janaprathibha Award 2004’ by Trichur Youth Movement, ‘Best Public Worker Award’ (2004) by the Vettuva Mahasabha for the upliftment of backward sections, ‘Rao Behadur Govindan Smaraka Puraskaram’ (2005) for improving the educational standards of the backward people in the Coastal areas, ‘Best MLA award’ by the Kerala State Sports Council for outstanding contribution in the field of sports (2010), ‘Hridayarppanam Award’ presented by the Vivekananda Seva Kendram (2011) for Charity work, ‘Matha Puraskaram’ (2011) presented by the Matha Theatre, Kozhikode for the distinct and noble activities in the cultural field, ‘Rashtriya Karma Seva Excellence Award’ (2014) presented by the Voice of Gulf Returnees.

    Previously elected to K.L.A. in 2001 and 2006.
