Son of Shri. C. K. Kunhappu and Smt. Chirutha, born at Badagara on 6th September, 1937; S.S.L.C.; Social and Political Worker.

Started political activities in 1958 as Congress Sevadal Volunteer; participated in the organisation of K.S.U. and Youth Congress in Badagara Taluk and Kozhikode District; was General Secretary, Youth Congress Kozhikode District Committee; after the split in Congress (1969), stood with the party, headed by Party’s National President Shri. Nijalingappa and became the State President of the Youth Congress.

During emergency period, arrested and detained in the jail for 21 days; participated in the National Youth Congress Meeting against emergency held at Lucknow; in 1977, when Janatha Party was formed, first became the member of its Kozhikode District Committee and then its State Committee; became one of the General Secretaries of Janatha party and later Janatha Dal; was Minister for Forest and Transport from February 2000 to May 2001.

Now, Deputy leader of the Janatha Dal Parliamentary Party and Vice-President of Badagara Sports Club which is conducting the National Level Volley Ball Tournament. 

Elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1996.
