Smt. Rugmini Amma; born at Nitumbram on 11th December, 1936; S.S.L.C.. T.T.C.; Teacher, Political and Trade Union Worker.
Entered politics as a worker of Youth Congress in 1954; Was Secretary, Nitumbram Village Youth Congress Committee; started career as a Secondary School Teacher but later resigned from service for fulltime political activities; Served as Secretary, D.C.C. Kozhikode (1969-74); Member K.P.C.C., Member K.P.C.C. Executive; Vice President, State I.N.T.U.C. (1978); President, Kozhikode D.C.C. (1980); Secretary, Congress Legislature Party (1982-87); General Secretary, K.P.C.C. (1984); Member, Indian Coffee Board (1971-74); was President, Kerala Water Authority Employees Association; President, C.W.R.D.M. Employees Association; President, Kerala State Retail Ration Dealers Association; was Minister for Food and Civil Supplies (May 1995 to May 1996).
Elected to K.L.A. in 1980, 1982, 1987, 1991 and 1996.
