Entered politics through All Kerala Balajana Sakhyam and KSU; Was, General Secretary of Balajana Sakhyam in 1963-64; President, Kerala Students Union, Kottayam District Committee and later State Vice-President of KSU in 1967; President, College Union of Loyola College of Social Sciences; Secretary, Kerala University Union; General Secretary, National Council of NSU (1972-1976); General Secretary State Youth Congress Committee and later its President (1981-83); Editor, Socialist Youth Weekly; Member, Kerala University Syndicate (1975-83); Member, Executive Committee of Kerala Agricultural University.
Elected to K.L.A. in 1982, 1987, 1991 and 1996.
