Started political career as a student activist in K.S.U.; served as President, K.S.U. Ernakulam District Committee (1966-68); President, Ernakulam District Youth Congress Committee (1968-72); General Secretary, Kerala Pradesh Youth Congress (1972-75); Vice-President, D.C.C. Ernakulam (1976); Member, K.P.C.C. Executive, A.I.C.C. member from 1973.
Was a member of (1) Indian Delegation to International Peace Conference held in Moscow (1973) (2) Managing Committee, State Co-operative Union, (3) Director Board, District Co-operative Bank, Ernakulam (4) K.T.D.C. Director Board, (5) Indian Haj Delegation (1999); (6) M.G. University Senate (7) Cochin University of Science and Technology, Syndicate (8) Kerala Sports Council; Was also Vice-President, Indira Gandhi Co-operative Hospital Ernakulam.
Elected to KLA in 1980, 1982, 1987, 1991 and 1996.
