Started public life as a social Worker; entered politics as an active worker of Indian National Congress; Was, General Convenor, Thrissur District Committee of Kerala Liberation struggle movement in 1959-1960; K.P.C.C. Executive Committee Member from 1965 to 2001; A.I.C.C. Member from 1969 to 1972; President, Thrissur D.C.C. (1981-1982); K.P.C.C. General Secretary for 20 years from 1978; Actively engaged in Trade Union Activities for 25 years (1956-1981); K.P.C.C. Member from 1962; Was Director of Tourism Development Corporation (1982-86); was Vice-Chairman of Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board (1986-1987).
Was, Congress Legislature Party Secretary from 1971 to 1977; Minister for Agriculture (1991-1995); Chairman of Estimates Committee of Kerala Legislature Assembly (1975-1977).
Elected K.L.A. in 1965, 1967, 1970, 1987 and 1991.
